Tulip Zither & Folk Arts

Every Saturday our group of young people meet in Sharon Youth Centre in Old Trafford to learn to play the Zither also known as the Citera.  Aged 4-15 the music group learn a range of songs followed by Hungarian folk dancing, covering folk dance and music styles from across the Carpathian Basin and Eastern Europe.  The project is led by professional musician Gyopar Pavai who is supported by experienced youth workers and volunteers.  The Tulip Zither group is the one and only Zither ensemble in the UK.  The group is invited to perform at events, concerts and festivals on a  regular basis. If you are interested in learning to play the zither, get in touch and get involved.

The project is supported by the Community Fund and Bethlen Gabor Alap.
